Privacy Policy
Media Canberra (ABN 27 685 488 917, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect through mcan.au, why, and the choices you have. Last updated 26 July 2026.
1.What we collect
We only collect personal information you choose to give us:
- →Contact form: your name, email address, and optionally a company name and message.
- →Referral form: your name, plus an email address or phone number, and optionally a business name and message.
- →Guide downloads and purchases: your name and email address, so we can deliver the guide.
- →Emails you send us, or replies to emails we send you.
We don't collect sensitive information, and we never see or store card details. Payments (when offered) are processed by Stripe on their own secure systems.
2.How we use it
- →Responding to your enquiry and providing quotes or services you've asked about.
- →Delivering guides or other content you've requested.
- →Administering the referral program (attributing a referral to the client who shared their link).
- →Sending invoices and service emails if you become a client.
We don't sell personal information, and we don't add you to marketing lists without asking first.
3.Where it's stored
Enquiries are stored in a managed database (Neon, hosted in Sydney, Australia) and the site runs on Vercel's hosting platform. Transactional email is delivered through Resend. These providers process data on our behalf and some processing may occur on infrastructure outside Australia; we choose reputable providers with strong security practices.
4.Cookies & analytics
The site stores your light/dark theme preference in your browser (localStorage), and that never leaves your device. If advertising or analytics measurement is active (Google tag), Google may set cookies to measure how the site is used and whether ads led you here; see Google's privacy policy for details. You can block cookies in your browser without losing access to the site.
5.How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept while we're dealing with them and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us. Records connected to invoices are kept as required by Australian tax law. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see below).
6.Access, correction & deletion
Email hello@mcan.au to ask what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. We'll respond within a reasonable time, usually a few business days.
7.Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your information, contact us first and we'll do our best to fix it. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
8.Changes
We may update this policy from time to time; the latest version always lives at this address with the date above.
